Join us Tuesday, October 20, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Cedar Ridge Elementary to help us save the
Beverley Taylor Sorenson Arts Learning Program at our school.
Due to budget challenges, this exceptional arts education program will be cut at the end of this
school year unless the Utah Legislature approves continued funding. We need your help!

Eagle Scouts Create Spaces for Creativity!
Maybe you’ve noticed the black frames in the hallways…one for each classroom. Those spaces were provided for the school by local Eagle Scouts. They built a black frame for each class to distinctively display their fine artwork.

As you walk through the halls of Alpine elementary stop and take notice! You’ll find treasures in these spaces set aside especially for the creative endeavors of the Alpine Artists.
Every Chid is an artist! Thank you Eagle Scouts!

Class Art Projects Underway
This is Mr. Cowley’s sixth grade class working on their project for October. In their sixth grade curriculum they are studying world religions so they were to choose an icon, building or symbol from one of the world religions and make a simple sketch with a 3 centimeter border. Then Mr. Francis told us about an art contest the Springville Art Museum is having this year that sixth graders can enter. Their theme is all about “what is spiritual to me”. We thought the two ideas went fairly well together so it opened up the student’s minds to more things they could draw. These pictures show the students at work on their sketches.
Mr. Cowley reads to the class while they work. It really helps keep the students on task and lowers the noise level in the room considerably.

Let’s Paint!
Today, after school, about 25 of our Alpine Artists painted on the wall in the Kindergarten playground. With Christmas music softly playing in the background Mrs. Payne and Mr. Francis helped them don aprons and choose Arctic animals to draw onto the mural. After the children drew their animals and outlined them in black they painted them! The snowy scene is looking fantastic! They’ll be finishing up tomorrow after school.

AlpineArt Logo Contest
The winner of the AlpineArt Logo Contest was announced and the winner is Eliza Swenson. Sabrina Nilsen won “Honorable Mention”. All the entries were very creative. Lots of great ideas! I think it must have been hard to choose a winner. Here are some pictures of the logos that were submitted.
